Mark Kessler’s Reality TV Show – In What Reality?

PoliceChiefMarkKesslerControversial former Gilberton, PA Police Chief Mark Kessler cut a deal with his former employers, as it was reported in the mainstream news.

For those of you with a memory as short as my own, “Chief” Mark Kessler made a Youtube video that went viral and caught the attention of not only the elected officials of Gilberton, but national news outlets, as well. In his videos he is best remembered for firing fully automatic weapons, referring to those who disagree with his ideology as, “Libtards,” and using the “F-word” loudly and extensively.

He was suspended from his duties and negotiations began between the Borough of Gilberton and Kessler, represented by a lawyer, over termination.

Not surprising is that Kessler agreed to settle the matter for a sum of $30,000 to be paid over 2 years. Even less surprising, Kessler, who said he fights for the First Amendment regarding free speech, has agreed not to speak of it or his former employers, in order to be paid. In the agreement, neither the Borough or Kessler admit to any wrongdoing.

Kessler, who lead his self-made, “Constitution Security Force” (CSF) has changed gears and now leads the, “III% Boots On the Ground” (BOG). The good news: No more monthly dues! All you need is your own sidearm, rifle, body armor, fatigues, and lots of ammo.

Kessler has stated that he has inked a deal for a TV reality show.

People seem to be concerned that Kessler will have a reality TV show of his own.

I contacted a friend, who knows somebody, who has a cousin, who knows a guy that dated a woman, who slept with a man that worked at a major TV network. My connections come from having lived in Las Vegas.

What people need to realize is that unlike Duck Dynasty, in which backwoods hicks with immense wealth offer entertainment to people who watch for the comedy value of a modern, true-life Beverly Hillbillies show, a Kessler inspired paramilitary organization would actually scare most Americans.

Kessler’s Kommandos might be a catchy title, but would the public be sure to tune in every week to see the progress of gun owners trying to improve their shooting accuracy using a 50 cal. from 200 yards? Not likely, unless the NRA has acquired its own television network.

What Kessler has volunteered in his statement is that the agreement is with “producers.” There is no agreement with a network to begin shooting (no pun intended) a reality show.

What does that mean, really; to have inked an agreement with “producers”?

The primary role of a television producer is to oversee all aspects of video production. Some producers take more of an executive role, in that they conceive new programs and pitch them to the television networks, but upon acceptance they focus on business matters, such as budgets and contracts.

Get yourself a lawyer that can write a contract and you could be a “producer.”

III flag

According to a newsitem.com article, Kessler said he has signed to star in his own, as-yet-untitled, reality show. He said it will focus on his life and his efforts to start a militia-style group.

“I signed with Relativity TV two days ago. We’re going to develop some kind of a show right now. The working title is ‘The Chief Kessler Project.’ We’ll be moving forward on that. It’s going to be interesting,” he said.

According to an article written by Michael Rubinkam of The Associated Press, Kessler said the show is “gonna be good.”

“It’s gonna be a different side of me,” he said. “I’ll knock ‘Honey Boo Boo’ out of the water.”

Kessler has no reality show. What he has is a contract with people who want to pitch an idea of a television show to any network that will pay them to create a tv show and cover the production costs of filming an ex-police chief of some small town in Pennsylvania who likes to curse, shoot guns, and play G.I. Joe with his friends.

Kessler thinks that it will happen. Whether that is because those he signed a contract with told him it would happen, or he just hopes to extend his 15 minutes by trying to convince people he somehow came out of his fiasco better off than he was before is unknown. He knows that other than working as a security guard, employment opportunities are all but non-existent.

Like others who post crazy videos and make crazy statements, nobody is willing to hire a person who appears unstable and angry.

Such a show will never make it past the pitch to the networks, unless their intent is to edit it in such a way, as to make Kessler and his followers more scary than they already are. Suspecting producers for being what they are, they will produce a show as the networks pay them to produce it and Kessler will have no say in what an aired episode looks like – edited to spin it the way the network wants it shown.

Mark Kessler getting his own reality TV show? Not going to happen. Thousands of shows are pitched to the networks each year by producer hopefuls. Relatively few are considered for production and those that are will then be weeded out further down the line after costs and demographics are studied. Then there is the question of advertisers. Few will want to associate themselves with that type of show.

The phrase, “A snowball’s chance in Hell” comes to mind when Kessler implies he will have a reality show of his own.

It isn’t what Kessler says, it’s how he says it.

It might surprise some of you that though I think Mark Kessler couldn’t be a worse representative to promote a message about the government and his actions do more harm than good in getting that message heard, the message that our government is taking away our freedoms and we are all losing our civil liberties should be known.

The NSA intercepting digital information without warrants, drones being approved to fly over American soil in endless flights of surveillance on anyone, The Patriot Act that can have an American citizen arrested and detained indefinitely without a lawyer or trial, summary executions without a trial, of Americans, made by Executive decision of a President are only a few of the many changes that have occurred since 9/11.

kesslerUnlike Mark Kessler, I don’t believe that people need to openly arm themselves to protect themselves from the government. Not yet, anyway. Sure, I have my own little arsenal, but I have to believe that I need never use it against my own government.

When Kessler makes videos cursing and challenging the government to disarm him, he legitimizes any action they might decide to take in accomplishing just that. And it wouldn’t be difficult to convince others it was done for our protection.

There is still time to stop our government from heading down the path of an Orwellian society in which it’s headed. It should not be done with “Boots On the Ground,” or other paramilitaries.

Voting, demonstrations, public writing, pressuring the mainstream media to do real investigative reporting, and other non-violent and non-threatening actions can all bring to light what is known to be hiding in the shadows – The systematic attack on our Constitution.
