West Easton could see another council candidate offered to residents in November’s general election.

Democrat Henry Nodoline, brother of Democrat Councilman Tom Nodoline, is running a write-in campaign during the primary election to appear on the Republican side of the ballot in November. Nodoline will be at the polling grounds on Tuesday, handing out cards that explain how to write in his name inside the voting booth.

Henry Nodoline requires only 10 write-in votes from Republicans on May 19th, to be assured a place on the November ballot.

He is seeking a 4-year seat and considering that two vacant positions exist on the Republican primary ballot, he will be guaranteed a place on the ballot in November’s general election, if he is successful in obtaining those 10 write-in votes.

I interviewed Henry Nodoline via phone and was provided the following information:

Henry served as a West Easton councilman in the mid-1980’s for a year as an appointee, giving up his seat to devote more time to his construction business and home, according to Nodoline.

Asked why he has decided to run again, Nodoline said, “Things are not right in the borough. Tax money can be better spent. The mil rate is too high for the services received.” Nodoline went on to say that he would like to see Fire Chief Bill Bolgari back in charge of Emergency Management for the borough. “Bill Bolgari is the best person for the job, but the Mayor is now in charge of emergency services. That’s not right.”

Nodoline said that since his retirement he has become increasingly dissatisfied with the way things are run in the borough. He can no longer stand what is happening to the town, the way it is run, and how residents are treated.

“Residents are restricted to three minutes during public comment at meetings and timed. There should be no time limit,” said Nodoline, who has been subjected to the three minute rule, while others are not.

Nodoline pointed to other problems within the borough. “(Council President) Kelly Gross should not be acting as Borough Manager – that’s in the Borough Code book.” “What other councilperson parks their car in the Borough Hall garage and closes the door, so nobody knows she is in the office?”, queried Nodoline.

“There are senior citizens who qualify for a sewer bill reduction, but aren’t aware of it. How difficult is it to print that information on the quarterly bill?” asked, Nodoline. “Lack of information to residents is a problem in West Easton, ” Nodoline said.

When asked if he had any concern about appearing with Republican Tricia Mezzacappa in November, he would only say, “Mezzacappa isn’t an issue for me. She’s not a running mate. Voters will decide in November who to vote for.”

Nodoline concluded by saying, “I’m making myself available to residents so problems can be fixed. I’d be pleased if they write my name in on Tuesday and vote for me in November.”
