West Easton – Low Democrat Turnout Or A DINO Result?

I had some time to look at the results from Tuesday’s election and I’m a bit baffled in what to make of the numbers. West Easton has always been considered a community with a strong Democrat base.

Not so long ago, I’ve been told, it was almost impossible for a Republican to be elected in the community. Republicans would change their registered party to Democrat before running for an elected position.

One only has to visit Facebook pages of some supposed Democrats, who aren’t in office, to see they are DINOs aligned in the beliefs of the far right and their conspiracy theories of vaccinations, stolen elections, and false flag operations.

Granted, this was an off-year election where turnout was low. Only slightly more than 25 percent of the 784 registered voters in West Easton cast a ballot.

Of the 198 voters recorded, only 38 used mail-in ballots, with as many as 7 of those 38 voting Republican. That’s an indication that Democrats, who are more inclined to vote by MIB, likely didn’t turn out in meaningful numbers on election day, but Republicans apparently did.

Surprising to me was the radical Republican candidate Steve Lynch, running for County Executive, actually won West Easton. With a total of 190 votes cast in that race, Lynch won West Easton by 12 votes. It’s as if all you need to be a potential winning candidate for office is a platform of anger and anarchy.

In fact, every Republican running for County Council won West Easton. The lowest vote-getter among the Republicans beat the highest vote-getter among the Democrats by 14 votes.

It wasn’t a show of appreciation toward Mr. McClure, whose administration provided donations and grants for funding our police and construction projects, saving our residents from funding them directly through higher local taxes. His continued support being something West Easton will be hoping for in the future.

I doubt Mr. Lynch would have been as generous to a Democrat majority community when he stated his opinion of Democrats: “You people are a cancer to society and would be ashamed of yourselves if you had a conscience.”

It seems the majority of West Easton residents who voted this year preferred to support a candidate who has problems managing his own finances (but they would entrust him with a half-billion dollar budget), threatens to remove an elected school board with “20 strong men,” attended the “peaceful” January 6th insurrection wearing a bullet-proof vest, and wants military personnel at polling places in violation of federal law.
