Councilman Jeffrey Breidinger, Jr. may be resigning from Council next month.

On Monday evening, Mr. Breidinger expressed to Council that he had put a lot of thought into the decision and after discussions with his family, he would be resigning from Council. He asked that his resignation be accepted immediately, by Motion of Council.

He told Council it was a privilege and an honor serving with them, but wished he had more time to dedicate to Council work. He thanked the public who supported him during his election.

“I feel I’m in the backseat and when listening to residents, that I’m not helping the borough. I felt I just wasn’t contributing,” he told those in attendance.

In response to Mayor DePaul letting Jeff know that there is a learning curve, council has finally settled into usually only needing one meeting each month, and his input during meetings is valued, Jeff said he is torn in his decision, but in speaking with his wife, he felt he should do what is best for his family.

I remember well, those years of working and trying to find time to spend with the wife and kids. There seemed to be little free time for anything else, which is why I can empathize with Jeff, who became a father earlier this year.

Because Jeff didn’t submit a Letter of Resignation with his announcement of intent, Council took no official action. We hope that another month might have him reconsider his decision, before Council meets again in July.
