On Monday evening, Council voted unanimously to rename the 9th Street Park for former Councilman Louis Niko.

Mr. Niko resigned his Council position on May 9th, due to health problems that had been ongoing and prevented him from attending Council meetings. He had served nearly 5 decades on the West Easton Council.

Mr. Niko’s daughter, Sharon, stood in for him at the Memorial Day wreath laying, in May.

During his 47 years on Council he served several times as President and Vice President, as well as chairing several different committees.
