West Easton Hopefuls Run For Two Different Term Seats On Council

In one of those election oddities that can occur, candidates for West Easton Council seats that will be contested this year are able to file for two of four seats with different term lengths.

Among the seats that will be available due to regularly scheduled 4 year elections is the seat held by council appointee, Mr. Vernon Moore.  Moore was appointed by the council to replace Timothy Jones, when Mr. Jones resigned last year. His seat will be for a term of two years, when it will again become available for a regular 4-year election term in 2017.

It appears all candidates now up for election are gathering signatures for both a 4-year seat and the 2-year seat in the primaries. Should a candidate win both seats in the general election they would have the option of choosing the term length they desire and they would then offer up the other seat for council to appoint a replacement.

Most candidates are expected to choose the 4-year seat, should they win both seats.

Council seats up for election this year are those held by Kelly Gross (D), Paul James (D), Ronald Nixon (D), and Vernon Moore (D).
