As expected, with social distancing and mask wearing almost non-existent among children outside the school environment, as they play on public park equipment and shoot hoops, positive Covid-19 cases have been reported by three Lehigh Valley school agencies.

September 8: Parkland School District, which opened August 31, reported a student who attended on September 2nd and 3rd tested positive.

September 10: WFMZ reported Northampton Area School District had a positive case of Covid-19 in their high school. The student last attended school on September 2. Another student in the middle school has since tested positive.

September 11: A check of Colonial Intermediate Unit 20’s website has reported Covid-19 positives during the week of September 6. Two children in their K-12 programs and one child at the Colonial Academy.

Potential Positive: During the Saucon Valley School District’s Board Meeting held on September 8, it was mentioned by a board member the district had a “potential” case of Covid-19 in a staff member (Approx. 1:36:30 on YouTube). I have requested information as to whether the staff member has been tested and if so, the results of that test.

UPDATE 9:30 PM The Express-Times is reporting 2 new cases in Bethlehem. 1 at Liberty HS, 1 at Governor Wolf Elementary, in addition to 1 already reported at Donegan Elementary.

Meanwhile, I’m trying to confirm reports of 3 additional cases in two other school districts, relayed to me by lower tier employees.

UPDATE 9/14 I’ve heard back from the schools I sent inquiries to.

Wilson Middle School has had 1 positive Covid-19 case.

Saucon Valley reports the staff member was tested and the result was NEGATIVE.

Nazareth Area School District reports no confirmed cases.
