West Easton Council Meeting or “Fight Night”?

grumpyI’ve just returned from the West Easton council meeting and I was one of the few who remained until they went into Executive Session. Three residents walked out amidst a heated argument between council members and one left shortly after trying to get involved in it.

When it was over the only ones left were myself, Mr. Robert Lewis, who was seeking an appointment to the council, one other, and Jim Deegan, editor of the Express-Times.

Most West Easton council meetings are a good excuse for catching a nap.

Not tonight.

It was like watching Grumpy Old Men. Personally, I found the discourse has potential in becoming productive in solving some problems in the borough, if a number of councilpersons can keep personal issues out of matters at hand and work to correct the issues that generated much of the arguing.

I apologize for not having time this evening to go into greater detail, but be assured I will find time in the morning hours to write about all of it.

I also recorded it and will convert the video to a format that can be posted on this website as soon as I can. It is worth the wait.

The trouble is that I have to get up for work at 4:00 a.m. and I’d be up most of the night if I were to write everything that occurred.

I would guess that Jim Deegan will be up much of tonight trying to figure out how to condense a more than two-hour long meeting into a brief synopsis.

There  was an accomplishment:  Mr. Vernon Moore, who was unable to attend due to a family crisis, was appointed to the vacant council seat. He was voted in by a 4-2 vote over Mr. Robert Lewis.
