A possible water main lateral break at 23rd and Front Streets in Wilson occurred at approximately 10:30 this morning. It may affect driving conditions in both boroughs, due to the pooling, slush, and single digit temperatures predicted overnight that will likely turn all wet areas into ice.

Residents along Front Street report they have lost water to their homes, as Suburban Water crews are out shutting down that section of the water system and getting ready to repair. It is unknown how many residents in Wilson and West Easton have lost water service.

As usual, the rush of water made its way down 2nd Street in West Easton, as well as Iron Street.

Luckily, the recent storm water drains that were put in only months ago has been collecting all the water that reached it, preventing flooding and keeping the 300 block of 2nd Street relatively dry.

Water also traveled down all of Glendon Hill Road. Glendon Hill road is being considered for closure. Others affected may also be detoured as required for safety.

Additional road salt will be applied to wet road surfaces, but road salt is only effective to 15 degrees. Temperatures tonight are expected to drop to 10 degrees, not including any wind chill factor

UPDATE 6:00 PM: I just returned from a ride around the affected areas. The valve (pictured above) has been repaired and the roadway patched around it. The roads along the water route have been heavily salted, including Glendon Hill Road, which I had no problem driving up and down. All roads are open.
