A Council Meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 2nd at 6:30 pm.

Referred to as a “Reorganization Meeting,” the first Monday in January meeting is scheduled and held every even year following the previous year’s election. Because the first Monday in January 2018 falls on a holiday, the meeting is moved to the next working day, Tuesday.

Newly elected may be sworn in during this meeting if they haven’t already been sworn in by a local magistrate.

Council members nominate and vote among themselves on the Council leadership positions of President, Vice-President, and Pro Tem.

The new year’s budget can also be re-opened for review. This is usually done to allow newly elected Council members the opportunity to offer suggestions and changes to the budget, since they were not part of the budget decision that was made the previous year.

Borough business can also be discussed and voted on during this meeting.
