A video recording system will be installed at West Easton’s park on Keystone Avenue, in response to incidents of vandalism and graffiti that has been on the rise.

High-Tech Security Alarms, owned by a West Easton resident, will install the system for $4,875.

Cameras will cover the small storage building area, while a Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) camera will continuously sweep the playground and basketball areas.

The PTZ camera has infra-red capability of seeing up to 492′ at night.

Recordings will only be accessed to obtain evidence in seeking identification of any person(s) who vandalize the park, or conduct illegal activity, and as evidence in a prosecution that may follow.

Signs will also be installed at the park notifying visitors that cameras are in use.

Past incidents have included spray painting foul language and representations of male genitalia in the play areas. One incident included the planting of shards of glass at the bottom of the children’s slide, which was discovered, reported, and cleared before any injuries to a child occurred.
