Trump’s position as “Worst President” is now secure.
Yesterday was a shocker on so many levels, as I watched anarchists storm the Capitol Building and riot. I never thought for a moment I would see the foundation of Democracy, our Republic, being a beacon of hope to the world, assaulted by domestic terrorists led by the insane rantings of a President who refuses to accept defeat in a secure and fair election.
The toll of the actions by the drones of Trump, those conspiracy loving fools who think themselves “patriots” is more than just the 4 dead (one shot trying to break down a barricaded door, three due to medical emergencies), and damage to the building.
It is a stain on America’s history that will forever be associated with Trump, sealed when an American flag on the Capitol grounds was replaced with a Trump flag, symbolizing devotion to a man, over country.
Trump incited them. He hoped for it, calling his devotees to travel to D.C. on the day Electoral votes were to be counted. When they arrived, he spoke to them, encouraging them to go to the Capitol Building, telling them, “You’ll never take our country back with weakness. You have to show strength. You have to be strong.”
The worst of the anarchists hoped to create chaos and death.
D.C. police officials said two pipe bombs were recovered, one outside the Democratic National Committee and one outside the Republican National Committee. Police found a cooler from a vehicle that had a long gun and Molotov cocktail on Capitol grounds.
If there is any good that may have come from the day, it may be that most Republicans have finally realized that Trump and his carnival of misfits who stormed the Capitol are not representative of their party.
They may have realized his base of supporters, though loud, is small and as insane as he is. When Trump put out a recorded video that threw gasoline on the fire of sedition, that had been going on for hours, many are now considering the 25th Amendment, because Trump is unfit for office.
A video, in which he told his violent minions to go home, but still claimed his “landslide” victory was stolen. “We love you,” he told the mob of rioters.
Trump may love them, but “We,” the hundreds of millions of law abiding citizens and believers in Democracy, certainly don’t.
Keep that in mind as you fly your Trump flag and wear your MAGA hat.
Having seen what happened yesterday and his actions, ask yourself if Trump fulfilled his promise to Make America Great Again, or if you were taken in by a snake oil salesman selling demagoguery for his own personal gain.
