Radar Speed Signs Are New Addition To West Easton

With almost every road in West Easton set at a speed limit of 25MPH or less, speeding vehicles are a problem.

The purchase of two radar speed signs operating on solar power is hope that a visual readout displayed to drivers will have them taking their foot off the gas pedal and checking their speedometer.

Though speeding occurs on many of our streets, the worst infractions by drivers often appears along Main Street and 7th Street, as motorists race between Lehigh Drive and Freemansburg Avenue to save a few minutes. The roads are used as a shortcut to avoid traveling the length of Easton and Wilson roads.

It’s likely the first appearance of the signs will be seen on 7th Street. The signs can be moved to different streets, if necessary.

The signs were approved for purchase by Council in February, at a cost of $5829. They were paid for with grant money dedicated to policing needs. They were recently delivered and will deployed soon.
