At Monday night’s Council meeting, Councilman Paul James, a member of the Finance Committee reported that the 2017 budget for West Easton was ready to be advertised. Once advertised it will be available to the public for viewing at Borough Hall.

The mil rate will remain at 11.7 for 2017.

Councilman Robert Lewis chairs the Finance Committee, but was unable to attend last night’s meeting. Council President Dan DePaul is the third member of the 3-person committee. All worked diligently to present a balanced budget and hold the line on taxes.

The budget includes major expenses consisting of:

  • $150,000 in startup monies for part-time police protection
  • $110,000 for trash collection
  • $100,000 for road maintenance/repair

To get a better understanding of where all your tax dollars go and how much it costs to run our borough I urge residents to take the opportunity to view the budget when it is made available.
