The West Easton trash collection contract has gone out for bid, and the cost could significantly increase, if the results of other communities new contracts are an indication.

In some instances, those new contracts have nearly doubled in price.

If an increase for a new contract does occur, the quarterly bill residents receive will increase to cover the cost.

Trash haulers have cited worker wage increases, higher fuel costs, and increased insurance premiums, as some of the reasons in charging more for their service.

West Easton is in its last year of the current contract that has been in place for 6 years. Advance Disposal was our trash hauler, until the business was sold to Waste Management, who assumed the contract.
