West Easton Council has approved the use of manufactured fire pits for personal enjoyment. This change is the result of a new ordinance that went into effect last month.

The new Smoke and Burn Ordinance provides an opportunity for responsible adults to enjoy the warmth of a small open fire with family and friends.

Fire pits come in many sizes and costs vary, depending upon whether it is a gas type, or a wood burner.

If you want the largest allowable propane type fire pit, you can find the one I purchased for myself when you CLICK HERE.

Be aware there are restrictions and certain requirements to be followed in order to adhere to the legal use of fire pits.

First, a $5 permit from the Borough is required.

Distance of the fire pit from structures must be met, and the size of the fire pit burn box is also defined in the ordinance. The fire pit burn box area can be no larger than 24″ in width and no taller than 18″ in height (including the metal screen, if it’s a wood burner).

To ensure you meet all other requirements you should make sure you read and understand Ordinance 2023-06 before purchasing a fire pit.
