It appears West Easton Two, LP will not appeal the decision of Council to deny a 176-bed Residential Treatment Center, instead opting to file a new Conditional Use Application that includes changes.
A prior Conditional Use Hearing, conducted over two separate meetings, ultimately denied the use by a 7-0 vote of Council on March 12th.
West Easton residents came out in opposition of the facility, mainly concerned about lack of security. Council members, when voicing their opinion at the time of the vote to deny, also noted that aspects of security was a main concern and that the proposed security measures by the applicant did not meet the requirements of Ordinance No. 966.
West Easton Two’s new application attempts to address those concerns by adding security personnel, additional fencing around the facility, a more secure entry/release area, and other changes. You can view the new application by clicking HERE.
Following legal notices being published and other requirements of the borough being completed, the new hearing has been scheduled for May 14th.
The Residential Treatment Center would be located at 92 Main Street, part of the old Chipman Mill property purchased by developer, Abraham Atiyeh.
