spedFor those with a clean record and who can pass background checks conducted by law enforcement, Colonial Intermediate Unit 20 is currently seeking to fill a large amount of positions. Many require no experience and often lead to a better paying job.

CIU 20 is a consortium of 13 school districts located within Northampton, Monroe, and Pike county. It provides education and transportation services for special needs children with disabilities ranging from physical to emotional.

Most jobs are for substitutes, but a few are for full-time employees, including school bus drivers, bus monitors, and custodians. They are also seeking 5 individuals as interpreters for the deaf, as well as teachers and teacher assistants.

Before you might be inclined to dismiss these part-time offers as just another waste of time in the hope of finding full-time employment, I will say that they can and often do lead to being hired full-time with the included benefits.

If a substitute, or part-time employee shows a willingness to work and shows a good work ethic they are almost always given the opportunity to fill a vacant full-time position when it becomes available. There is also the opportunity to move into a higher paying position.

Bus monitors, for example, can receive the necessary CDL (Commercial Driver License) training to become a bus driver, a position that provides better pay, and often more hours of work during the school year.
