The last election saw the unneeded position of Constable in West Easton filled by Tricia Mezzacappa. Obviously aware that she wouldn’t be elected to Council, she solicited write-in votes from those entering the polling station for the one uncontested race on the ballot.
The only elected position on the ballot without a candidate was that of Constable. A mere 10 write-in votes could get anyone that position. A position that nobody can remember ever being filled in West Easton because it was (and still is) useless to a Borough without its own court system.
Mezzacappa convinced 11 voters to write in her name and thus, finds herself with little more to do than be present at the local voting place during an election.
Her opportunity to receive work from local Magistrates is unlikely, as her reputation precedes her and apparently still has outstanding criminal fines, as reported by local political blogger, Bernie O’Hare.
At the May 23rd Council Meeting she offered Council to hear from an individual from an organization of Constables. The unnamed person will inform West Easton Council of what duties a Constable can perform for the Borough.
Mezzacappa mentioned parking issues and car removal during snow emergencies.
That sounds more like Code Enforcement duties and I’m not inclined to approve Ms. Mezzacappa the type of authority over the citizens of West Easton that might allow her the ability to issue parking tickets, or have vehicles towed.
Especially so, considering West Easton is once again defending itself against her in new litigation she has brought against it.
