Deja Vu For Council Appointee Paul James

Two very good candidates for the open position on West Easton Council had to be considered at last night’s Council meeting, but only one could be appointed.

It wasn’t an easy decision.

Mr. Peter M. Mammana has been attending Council Meetings with regularity and was recently appointed Vacancy Board Chairman by the Council. A resident of West Easton for 62 years, he graduated from Wilson High School before serving in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He has an Associates Degree in business administration from NCACC. It has been apparent that he has an interest in West Easton government.

Ultimately though, the votes went to former Councilman Paul James, a resident of 18 years and has also been active in local government. He previously chaired the West Easton Zoning Hearing Board and was reappointed to the ZHB earlier this year.

Mr. James served on Council from November 2013 to December 2015, having been appointed to the seat during that time. While on Council, he chaired the Finance Committee and was responsible for the budgets presented for 2015 and 2016. He is a member of the Easton Area Joint Sewer Authority, representing the residents of West Easton.

He is also a veteran. He is retired from the U.S. Navy after 21 years of active military service. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Southern Illinois University.
