It’s all preliminary work and only the beginning of a long process that includes submitting an application, but it’s hoped the final outcome will cover all, if not most, of the expense of building a new Road Dept. Building. West Easton Council would like to see one built on newly acquired property along Ridge Street.
Councilmembers DePaul, H. Nodoline, and Dees met with representatives from Barry Isett & Associates on Friday to provide information about the desired building and use. The engineering firm will prepare the application for the grant and submit it when ready, using that information.
No timeline has been given of when a determination of a grant will be made.
The new building would house the borough’s equipment, including our trucks, tractor, leaf vacuum, and other items. Some of the equipment is currently stored outside or off borough property because of the limited space at the Municipal Building.
It is possible the new building could store road salt, but concerns about EPA requirements may not make it feasible to include it until a “Phase II” of the building would take place in a future year.
