New to Zoom?
I get that using your computer to interact in a meeting can be intimidating for some older residents. Running a meeting using Zoom and my computer is going to be a challenge for me, as well.
Not expecting the “miracle” of Covid-19 suddenly disappearing, as the president promised us on February 27th, I’m holding the Council Meeting via Zoom on April 13th, if numbers of infections continue to rise.
However, that shouldn’t stop any of us from overcoming obstacles that make it a challenge to attend meetings and continuing on with borough business.
For the participant (guest), it’s not much more involved than using Facetime.
I will be offering residents and council members the opportunity to familiarize themselves with Zoom, the online meeting platform, on Saturday, April 4th at 1:00 pm.
There are also videos posted on Youtube that explain Zoom. Many have been put up within the last two weeks, as businesses move to the platform to interact with groups of employees working from home.
I’m scheduling a room for all who are interested, to enter on that day and time. I’m hoping that there will be less confusion on how residents can access a meeting, opt to use their webcams (if they have one), speak using their telephone or computer microphone, and other features, including chat.
As host, I’ll explain much of it and will take questions you might have. Hopefully, I’ll be able to answer them.
To make it clear and to avoid our Borough Manager getting another dozen RTKs about this gathering, this is NOT A COUNCIL MEETING. I’m doing it on my own – privately – the borough isn’t paying for it.
So, relax there, Broomstick.
No borough business will be discussed. No action by Council will be taken on any matter.
This will simply be a practice exercise for everyone to familiarize themselves with Zoom, before the actual Council meeting scheduled for April 13th.
If you want an invite to the room, email me by clicking HERE. Include your name and address in the body of the email and I’ll send you an invitation.
