Councilman David Bolash, who Chairs the Property Committee sought the opinion of other members on Council last Monday evening.

Mr. Bolash, whose committee will be meeting with landscapers and designers for the monument area located near Borough Hall, wanted to know if the design should include a water feature, or not, before seeking plans from interested businesses.

The initial thought was to have a fountain that would retain water in a small and shallow pool, but concerns of standing water as an attractive nuisance was discussed.

It was determined that a water feature will be sought, but will have no collection of water being maintained in a pool type of base. The design of fountain and the immediate area around it has yet to be determined.

The water feature will be what is commonly referred to as a “disappearing water fountain.” This type of fountain allows water to run to the ground, appearing to endlessly disappear into rocks or gravel where it is recirculated back to the top of the fountain.
