As I predicted in my previous post, another school district is moving to full remote learning ahead of the planned holiday break.
Bethlehem Area School District (BASD) notified staff and parents today it will be moving to “on-line only” instruction starting on December 14th. Students will not return to school and a hybrid schedule until January 11th.
BASD, like Easton Area School District, has seen an increase in positive Covid-19 cases among students and staff since returning from the Thanksgiving break.
I think it unlikely these districts and others in the Lehigh Valley will fare any better after returning to an in-person schedule following the two upcoming holidays. Christmas and New Year’s Eve will undoubtedly have gatherings of family and friends with few following guidelines to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
