District Attorney John Morganelli will be presenting a check for $10,000 to West Easton. The money will assist with start-up costs toward West Easton’s part-time police force.
The money derives from seizures made during drug raids in the county that ends up in a Drug Forfeiture Fund. Mr. Morganelli has the authority to distribute money in that fund to various municipalities throughout Northampton County in order to assist them with police needs.
West Easton is on the cusp of rolling out its part-time police force. The building to be used for the police station is in its final stages of refurbishment work. Services, such as telephone and Internet, are being scheduled, and police equipment is being ordered.
The presentation of the check is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, February 12th, in the District Attorney’s office.
UPDATE 11:25 AM: Due to the forcast of impending weather tomorrow, the check presentation has been rescheduled for Tuesday, February 19th.
