West Easton finally has its own Law Enforcement Officer. A real cop. A retired Pennsylvania State Trooper. We can now call him, Chief.
Our now former Police Consultant, Mr. Robert Mahady, was sworn in at Monday night’s Council meeting as West Easton’s Chief of Police. The oath was given to Chief Mahady by Mayor Dan DePaul.
Chief Mahady’s position for the next 30-60 days will be mainly administrative, as he continues working on finalizing the police department’s needs.
Some processes of finalizing the police department required a duly sworn Police Chief, such as ordering police approved tasers, body cameras, and other equipment.
With still more items being finalized, such as operations manuals, hiring of additional part-time officers, and testing of equipment, Chief Mahady will be kept busy until the official roll-out of the police department is announced. That roll-out is anticipated before the end of the year.
Pennsylvania State Police will continue to cover West Easton, both during Chief Mahady’s administrative phase and after roll-out, when there will be gaps in West Easton police being “on-duty,” due to the part-time nature of our police department.
A big “WELCOME!” to our Chief of Police, Robert Mahady.
