With a probable cost of $112,700 to complete Phase II, Council voted for a Letter of Commitment of $16,609 in seeking an additional grant.

The additional grant and the borough’s commitment would cover the projected price tag for Phase II of the Public Works Garage.

West Easton has already received a grant of $46,091 from LSA for the building. That grant can be used as a dollar-for-dollar match for a CIPP grant. The CIPP grants are available for up to $50,000.

$3,909 is added by the borough, to the LSA grant amount, bringing the total to $50,000. CIPP matches the $50,000.

That’s $100K ($96,091 in grant money).

$12,700 remains for the Phase II cost and is covered by the borough

$3909 + $12,700 = $16,609 from the General Fund.

$20,000 was already budgeted in 2019 in the Public Works Building line item.

Phase II of the Public Works Garage project would include a gas service line, a water service lateral line, a sewer service lateral line, as well as building improvements.

Building improvements would be an electrical panel and connection, wiring of the building with outlets, interior lighting, roll door motors, interior gas service hookups, heater, lavatory and plumbing, exhaust fan, ice catchers, insulation, floor drains, and a concrete slab floor.

Additional costs covered would be mobilization/demobilization of equipment, design and permitting, advertising for bids, and inspections.

West Easton would likely not receive word on whether the CIPP grant application is successful until November of this year.

If successful in obtaining the grant, work would not begin on the building until sometime in late Spring of 2020, following advertising and bid reviews.
