Calls us Wilstonians.

Not surprisingly, there were less than a half dozen residents present at last night’s meeting, though both Wilson and West Easton were equally represented by its’ citizens.

Not all were in agreement with the merger and a few were upset that the media gave no coverage to the ongoing discussions and representative votes.

Mr. Jess Kidden of Wilson was the most vocal in his opposition. “We don’t need none of them from down by the river joining us. I will always be from Wilson.”

Others were pleased. Mr. Aryu A. Dullard believed it was for the best. “There was talk of calling ourselves, ‘Weaston.’ I was totally against [the merger] until they decided on ‘Wilston.’ ‘Weaston’ was just crazy talk.”

By January 1, 2016, West Easton and Wilson will have completed the removal of road signs indicating they are separate communities. New signs will read,  “Borough of Wilston” and will be put in place over the next 18 months, but will be covered until the January 1, 2016 date arrives.

In the meantime, a public vote for a new Council that will represent the combined communities will have to be scheduled and other matters will have to be decided regarding public buildings, sewage fees, and more.

Official notices, including adjustment to taxes and monetary compensation forms provided by the PA Community Consolidation Act of 1947 (PACCA) will be mailed within 30 days to residents and those communities that border Wilson and West Easton.  If your award is larger than $5000 from the PACCA, additional documentation will be required. If you wish to file early for your money, the PACCA Claim Form can be downloaded HERE.
