Santa came late to West Easton, but it was worth the wait.
Earlier in the year West Easton applied for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to improve infrastructure in the borough. CDBG has awarded West Easton $125,400 for a Storm Water Improvements project that will fix water problems along 2nd Street.
The grant had been waiting approval from HUD since October.
The notification that the grant was approved arrived earlier this week. The money will be used to alleviate excessive water running from Wilson Borough roads, across Iron Street, and down the length of 2nd Street’s southern side.
The water during summer storms has cascaded up onto sidewalks, especially after the required handicap ramps were installed at the corner of Keystone and 2nd.
Barry Isett & Associates, the engineering firm hired by the new council at the beginning of 2016, will oversee the project and prepare it for the bidding process.
Work is hoped to begin in the Spring of 2017.
