A 16 year-old juvenile was cited this morning for allegedly vandalizing West Easton’s Niko Park and the hospital building in Wilson Borough.

The juvenile was spotted by Mayor Dan DePaul from his window that has a view of Niko Park.

vand3“I saw a person walking alone, wearing a mask, carrying what looked like a cane, and something else in his other hand, enter the park and make his way to a garbage bin,” said DePaul.

“He looked into the bin, took the lid off, then lifted the liner up, spilling the garbage onto the ground. He then exited the park, running toward Wilson Borough” continued the Mayor.

This hasty exit took him out of the jurisdiction of West Easton police and into the jurisdiction of Wilson Borough police. DePaul, with 20 years experience serving West Easton, realized he would have to locate the youth again in Wilson, as there was no time for our own law enforcement to respond, before he left West Easton’s boundaries.

vand1“I got into my car, and he was running up 20th Street. I saw him next on Fairview Avenue and eventually discovered the item in his hand was a can of spray paint, as he painted the letters, “EBK” onto the rear entrance of the hospital building,” said DePaul.

DePaul said he called 911 and notified the Wilson Police Department who nabbed the alleged vandal.

The juvenile was issued citations by both Wilson and West Easton Police Departments.
