After the absence of an Easter Egg Hunt for children of West Easton, yesterday’s “Egg Hunt” was enjoyed by about two dozen of them, with their parents. It was a good turnout considering that just two weeks ago there were only two children registered to participate.

The egg hunt followed park dedication ceremonies for Mr. Louis Niko and Mayor Gross.

egghuntThe egg hunt began at 11:00, with children ranging in ages up to 9 years old being separated into three age groups.

The children had an enjoyable time running through areas of Gerald W. Gross Park that were sectioned off for their ages, gathering plastic eggs filled with candy. One special egg in each group contained a $5 bill.

Children were also treated to milk. cookies, cake, juices, and Rice Krispy treats following the hunt.

Adults were provided the same goodies and also free coffee. Only one complaint was reported. A woman complained about her coffee having some grinds in it. I wasn’t there, but I hope she was offered a full refund of what she paid for it.

It should be noted that lacking membership in our Activities Committee, the success of this event, along with the dedication ceremonies of the parks that took place earlier, can be attributed to our borough employees who stepped up on their days off to ensure that all went well.

Borough Manager Joan Heebner baked the cookies and treats, arranged for the cake, and other supplies needed. Road Dept. Supervisor Dane Thatcher cleaned the parks of litter and set up the field for the event. Sr. Clerk Dave Gehman, who does photography, took pictures at all the events that morning.
