This past Friday and Saturday, members of West Easton Council attended the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs (PSAB) “Boot Camp.”

Two members of Council, Mrs. Janie Jones Brown and Mr. Kenneth Decker, Jr., attended for the first time. Councilmen Ron Nixon, Pete Mammana, and myself also attended to obtain updates and any new information that could be applied.

The PSAB provided newly elected municipal officials training, though it is also available and beneficial to previously elected, or appointed municipal officials.

The two day course is designed to help the municipal official with guidance on:

  • Structure and Organization of Municipal Government
  • Duties and Responsibilities
  • Important State Laws and Programs Affecting PA Municipal Governments
  • Running Effective and Legal Meetings
  • Municipal Finances and Services
  • Intergovernmental Cooperation and Community & Economic Development

The information provided by the PSAB was useful. Though much of what they presented is already in place by West Easton there were a couple of suggestions I will be implementing.
