Lehigh Valley blogger Bernie O’Hare often does the job of local newspapers in reporting stories they are afraid to touch. He runs the well known blog, Lehigh Valley Ramblings.

Sure, he can be an a-hole at times and he’ll tell you that. I don’t always agree with what he writes, but sometimes what he writes has resulted in local news media following up on a story he broke first, often giving him no credit for his work.

Take his blog post about West Easton Constable Tricia Mezzacappa facing charges of Making A False Report.

Local media is afraid to report on it, likely fearing a lawsuit they’ll have to defend against. It’s something newspapers should be reporting, despite Mezzacappa filing frivolous lawsuits.

The Express-Times bowed to a lawsuit she filed against them. They don’t report her nutty antics any longer. The Morning Call, according to one reporter I spoke with, has a standing policy not to do any stories on her for fear of having to defend a frivolous lawsuit that would cost them money for a lawyer. They would win, but their bean counters believe it isn’t worth the cost. It’s an embarrassment for investigative reporting. It doesn’t exist in the Lehigh Valley.

However, if you want all the latest H.S. sports scores, letters to advice columnists, or rehashed versions of stories reported by major news publications, then Lehigh Valley newspapers are here for you.

That’s why it’s bloggers who pick up the slack. Not me. I usually just cover broken swings and spend time correcting the lies put out by Mezzacappa.

It’s why O’Hare and other prominent bloggers have been doing the job newspapers should be doing and he’s found more information that will reveal exactly what occurred on February 11th, and why Mezzacappa is in some very deep doo-doo. I mean, she is up to her chin in deep s***.

It’s now public information and as we are told by Mezzacappa, “What’s in the public domain is fair game!”

I expect tomorrow will have Mr. O’Hare publishing his latest blog involving Constable Tricia Mezzacappa and a young black man in that incident on February 11th, 2019. Given past witness statements in a previous incident involving a honking taxi, when witnesses reported Mezzacappa used the “N-word,” one has to wonder if Mezzacappa’s past bigoted outburst had an influence in insinuations on this young man, in the hope he would be arrested and charged.

Her version of events, called into serious question by PSP, could have ruined the rest of a young man’s life. Her statement to implicate another, backfired on her. The PSP are not stupid and Mezzacappa is not the genius she thinks she is.

What you’ll read will be shocking and, if not for a thorough investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police, her allegations could have been the catalyst for not only a prosecution of the young man due to the alleged false statement by Mezzacappa, but a deep rift in race relations in the Lehigh Valley, with West Easton at the center of the controversy.

While Tricia Mezzacappa has been a source of both amusement and annoyance with her crazy allegations of malfeasance by the Mayor and promises of my impending arrests she has made on numerous occasions, what occurred back in February is not humorous by any means.

It was downright dangerous and the Court needs to place a lasting impression on her, that she change the road she is on by seeking psychiatric help, or continue on the path that will eventually find herself in an orange jumpsuit.
