Ms. Janie Jones Brown has been appointed by Council to fill the vacant seat left by Ms. Desiree Lake.

Janie has been an elementary school teacher for more than twenty years, teaching at Franklin Township Elementary.

She served as the local union president for her district and served on numerous committees, representing NJEA, FTEA, and PTA interests in varied positions.

Janie and her husband have been residents of West Easton since 2001 and she has been active in the community through volunteerism and by serving on a number of various boards.

In 2014, the Wilson Area School Board appointed her as one of Mary Meuser Library’s Board trustees where she worked with other members to build patron involvement, responsibly use funds, raise money, create more programs for various age groups, and build partnerships.

In the summers she volunteers and supports the Library’s summer reading programs and has assisted in coaching Wilson softball and soccer.

Janie is also West Easton’s representative on the Northampton Democrat Committee.

Janie and her husband are currently raising 3 children, with one attending each of the schools in our local district; elementary, middle, and high school.

In her letter of interest submitted to Council, she wrote that she loves living in West Easton. She believes in the power of people working together for the common good.

Speaking to Council at last night’s meeting, she stated she has been pleased with the progress of our borough over the last few years, including the addition of sidewalks, the revival of the Easter Egg Hunt, and the improved communication, noting West Easton’ Facebook page and Borough Manager, Joan Heebner. She wants to work together to make things even better.
