Newly appointed councilman Paul James found something in his basement shortly after 1:30 am this morning. A minivan.
The white minivan was the result of a chase by Easton police of the van that was spotted driving without headlights on. The pursuit started around 1:30 a.m. Saturday at 15th and Washington streets in Easton when the driver of the van failed to stop for the police officer. The car sped off and led police on a pursuit.
The minivan crashed into a parked car in Wilson, according to WFMZ.com, before crashing through a fence and then plowing into Paul James’ home. The suspect jumped out of the car, climbed over a side fence and ran away.
Police said no arrests have been made and are attempting to identify a suspect.
Inside the vehicle, police found 34 packets of heroine.
James and his neighbors were awakened by the noise of the minivan hitting the home. “A loud crash, sounded like an earthquake,” James said. Paul James’ basement wall was severely damaged, with the minivan’s front section protruding into his basement.
Nobody was hurt in the home and the minivan has been removed. A temporary repair has been made to the basement wall.
Paul James’ home is on the 1000 block of Iron Street.
