West Easton will likely join an electronic recycling event to be held on April 16th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Initially begun by Tatamy Borough, it was quickly embraced by other municipalities in the area, which will share the cost from the company providing the service.
The company will provide labor to unload vehicles, all the trucks required during the 3 hour event, and traffic control at the Nazareth Intermediate School location.
Municipalities that have joined Tatamy are, Forks, Lower Nazareth. Moore, Nazareth, Palmer, Stockertown, and Upper Nazareth, among others.
Northampton County is contributing $2400 to help defray the cost of the $3500 event, leaving $1100 for 11 municipalities to cover themselves.
If West Easton pays its’ share, the cost to the Borough will be $100, according to Deanne Werkheiser, the Municipal Secretary for Tatamy Borough. An additional $36.05 has been requested to help with advertising the event in a local circular, The Key.
The event was previously brought up at the February 22nd Council Meeting, but the lack of a definite amount of the cost at the time, had the approval of participation put off until the next Council Meeting, which will take place on March 14th.
It is expected West Easton Council will approve the expenditure, if discussion of the event at the last Council meeting is any indication.
The collections of items will take place at the Nazareth Intermediate School, located at 335 Tatamy Road, Nazareth.
While most items are accepted without charge there are costs for certain items, such as TV’s, monitors, and others that will be charged to residents, should they wish to dispose of them at the event.
