Progress is finally being made with the computers at West Easton Borough Hall.
The former IT person is now cooperating with the current IT person that has been assisting us with some of the computer issues. This, after it appeared he had stopped communicating with us last week.
I was also able to speak with him today. I received answers to the questions I had about missing files on the computers.
Not only has he provided us needed passwords, but is volunteering answers that explains much of what we aren’t finding on the computers. Personally, I believed him when he told me it wasn’t him that wiped information from computers.
Passwords were the most important thing needed. Without them we were looking at a huge expense to replace those computers that were needed as servers.
We now have access to the mirrored hard drive computer that was in the back room. Though documents and other folders on it are completely empty, we are able to use it again as a server.
Also accessed is the computer recovered by the PA State Police. We now are able to get into the AMS program that was used for billing and financial records. On Monday we will have a better idea if it will assist the staff in getting out the trash & sewer bills.
What still remains is getting the new program installed, that will replace the AMS program.
There are still answers needed about the computers that left Borough Hall. The next Council Meeting is Monday night.
