Schools Can Do Better On Veterans Day

Fr14scVeteransI got the day off from work today. Not because I am a Veteran of the Navy, but because the Easton Area School District caved into complaints that it wasn’t “honoring” veterans.

As a veteran, and one who served for 5 years without having anyone shoot at me in anger (I don’t count the father of the daughter I met in a bar on Guam), I’m of the opinion that thanking veterans by giving children a day off from school doesn’t do much toward really thanking veterans. Mayor Gross Trashes Webmaster At Trash Meeting

angry-dad1Unhappy with a recent report I wrote, that cited a witness statement and asked questions regarding a ride taken by Council President Kelly Gross with a representative from one of the bidders for a trash hauling contract, Mayor Gross accused me of hiding behind a computer screen, not revealing who I am, having an agenda, and wrongfully accusing his daughter. Thank You, West Easton Voters

I’ve always believed in the power of voting.

According to the official results, West Easton had a turnout of 26.01%.

191 out of 733 registered voters went to the polls in West Easton. Not exactly a claim to fame, but better than the 21% reported overall for Northampton County.

To all those who took the time to vote yesterday I want to thank you using that power, which many countries don’t enjoy. That “thank you” goes out to all of you, not just those who voted for me. Continue reading

Trash Service Bids Opened But Is A Future Award Suspect?

Five trash haulers submitted bids to service West Easton and those bids were publicly opened this afternoon. All bid on a 5-year contract. Figures below reflect the total over those 5 years. Continue reading
