Catching Up. What’s Been Happening.

This post will give you a summation on some items of interest.

There will be a vacancy on Council. Councilman Ron Nixon submitted his resignation on December 15th. On January 28th it will take effect, and Council intends on filling the vacancy within the 30 days that follow. If you would like to serve on Council, please submit a Letter of Interest for consideration.

Council approved West Easton Police Department’s Code of Conduct, which includes procedures to be followed in the performance of duties. The approval now allows part-time police to begin patrolling streets in the borough, as scheduled by Mayor DePaul.

Council gave a moment of silence for Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick. Officer Sicknick was killed by a crazy insurrectionist mob that stormed the Capitol Building on January 6th, during an attempt to stop the constitutional process of affirming electoral ballots.

Speaking of cRaZy, our common scold constable had her car towed and impounded at the behest of UGI, when she ignored the No Parking signs on the street they were working on. As a follow-up, PSP responded when her anger during a confrontation with the UGI work crew , had the crew concerned for their safety. She confronted them with her gun noticeably visible on her person.

West Easton lost a good resident earlier this month. Mr. Louis Niko passed away on Saturday, January 9th, at the age of 92. He was a councilman for the Borough of West Easton for 47 years and was a life member of Safety First Volunteer Fire Company. The former 9th Street Park was re-named Louis Niko Park in 2017, in appreciation of his many years of public service.

A Court Order was obtained by the Borough that demands The Hub Cap Store clean its property, as directed in a previous agreement with the Borough, or face monetary consequences. The Order also included The Hub Cap Store paying for the Borough’s attorney fees in seeking the Court Order, which its owner, Mr. John Sefcik, has paid.
