Both West Easton Plow Trucks Out Of Service

Pray for warm weather and no more snow in West Easton, as both plow trucks need to be repaired before they can go back to work.

The older plow has a broken axle and the new plow broke the knuckles off one of the wheel joints, Councilman Henry Nodoline reported at last night’s Council meeting.

Councilman Henry Nodoline voiced his opinion that the new plow, a GMC 350, isn’t big enough to handle the workload of pushing snow of more than 8″ or so for an entire town. He noted the new plow didn’t last a week after already having been repaired for a broken impeller (the part that helps spread salt).

He informed residents that they can expect no help, should it snow again in the near future. Efforts to secure a plow for rental proved fruitless. “Hertz said they couldn’t steal one for us,” stated Nodoline.

Councilman Robert Lewis suggested seeking a larger plow through Costars, a Pennsylvania Cooperative Purchasing Program that offers equipment for sale and would allow West Easton to avoid a bidding process.

CouncilmanĀ Nodoline will be reporting back to Council on his findings.
