Back in April, West Easton Council presented Borough Manager Joan Heebner with an award plaque, to recognize the outstanding work she’s done for the borough.
It was well deserved, as she is an asset to our community. She proved her worth again this month.
When an offer of a Covid-19 Grant was made available, everyone looked at its $3000 minimum and thought there was no need to apply, because we wouldn’t be spending that much on hand sanitizer, Lysol, and masks.
Everyone except Joan, that is.
Ms. Heebner, with the window closing on the application deadline, contacted me and asked if she could look into the grant a bit more, and take a shot on items she believed would qualify for reimbursement.
Though I had little expectation of $3000 being awarded, Joan proved my doubts in error by obtaining $9137 in grant money, following the submission of the application.
The grant is a “no-match” type. Meaning West Easton does not have to match any percentage of money to obtain it. Something that should make West Easton taxpayers pleased, with the exception of one, who hates grants.
The grant will cover technical upgrades and PPE needed by the borough to conduct business during this ongoing pandemic.
Thank you, Joan!
