salt-giftI noticed a comment on the Lehigh Valley Ramblings blog that indicates it was left by Easton Mayor Sal Panto. The comment was left on a blog entry about the salt shortages in many of the Northampton County communities.

The comment reads:

For the record, we have had ample supply and we lent 100 tons to Palmer Township 2 weeks ago which they have replaced and on Friday I approved lending road salt to the Borough of West Easton. We will always do our best to help our neighbors.

I only just noticed the comment early this morning, so I have no information regarding the amount we received, or how it will be repaid.

I’ll try to update the information today.

It was a nice gesture on the part of Mayor Panto and the city of Easton to help us out.

Thank you, Sal.

I take back half the things I’ve said about your parking meter fees and times.

UPDATE 2/10/14 11:30pm

We are being provided salt by Easton. It is on an as needed basis, according to one Councilman and is paid for by the ton. A plan for our own storage facility for road salt is still active.
