Saving Your Computer From The Apocolypse

Cloud-StorageIf your personal computer were to be lost, stolen, or simply smoke and burn, what is on it that you value most? Work related documents? Your novel? A thesis for that Phd? Maybe it’s a number of things, including photos that you never bothered having printed. Imagine that your computer is gone with no hope of recovering any of your files.

How do you prevent this from happening?

It occurred to me that this might make for a good informational post on WEPA. Not only for West Easton residents, but for anyone who realizes that computer owners lose years of information stored on their computer. It happens every day. House fires, burglary, accidental damage, or simply hard drives failing, cause people to lose everything on a computer.

First, I’ll tell you that I have more than one computer. I have a desktop, a laptop, and a backup laptop. These are so I can work  at home or on the road. My backup computer is a laptop that I rarely use, but gives me a little security in knowing I have one. I have some programs installed on all, some programs installed on only two, and still more programs installed on only one. Same with my pictures.

To ensure I don’t lose anything I use a second hard drive that connects to any computer through a USB port. While this works fine as a way to back up things I don’t want to lose, it does take time to set up, use a program that tells my computer to send certain files I choose to the secondary hard drive, and then transfer the files. It’s a pain in the butt to set aside time for this and I frequently wait far too long before getting around to it.

It’s not something I would recommend for most people in West Easton. What I would recommend is an easier way to save your items. It’s done automatically and safely. You don’t need any extra hard drives, or have to hook anything up to your computer. It’s also something I use to keep my data safe, just in case every piece of computer hardware I have decides to get fried one day. It’s a third level of protection for me.

For you, it can be the best way to ensure the photos of your children or grandchildren are never lost, because your computer died. It guarantees EVERYTHING you have on your computer will always be available for retrieval.

I upload everything on my computer to a secure site on the Internet. It’s a computer file storage site that does not share my information with anyone and only I can access my own files for recall. Basically, it’s a personal vault on the Internet that only I can access.

The system, called MyPCBackup  provides:

  • Secure Backup

MyPCBackup takes the security and privacy of your data very seriously. All your files are encrypted with the same security as banks use.

  • Sync Multiple Computers

Their clever sync folder allows you to sync files between multiple computers automatically. No need for slow transfer of files between computers again.

  • 100% Automated

Automatically backup your computer silently in the background to a schedule of your choice without you having to do anything.

  • Unlimited Storage

Unlike other online backup providers they don’t limit the amount of files you can backup – enjoy the freedom of unlimited online backup.

Download a simple program to your computer from MyPCBackup and you’re set!
