When IQ Fibers worked with Gov. Wolf’s “Action Team” to locate its business in the Lehigh Valley, there was a lot of noise made about the return of business to the valley.

IQ Fibers continues to make noise.

Back in July, local papers touted Wolf’s achievement, using a press release for information.

West Easton found out they were taking up residence in the borough from the local newspapers.

Some in the business districts of West Easton don’t feel the need to let the borough know anything, either. They don’t take borough ordinances and zoning seriously.

A few do as they please and ignore the requirement of obtaining permits, providing plans, or following zoning requirements.

Having met with IQ Fibers’ CEO and General Manager following the newspaper report of their planned arrival, they assured West Easton that they would obtain proper permits and submit plans when they started converting the building into a manufacturing facility.

They gave the impression that they would do everything West Easton required and work with the borough, being a good neighbor.

We looked forward to a good relationship with our newest business.

Other than plans for a loading dock already under construction, the borough received little from IQ Fibers, as they installed ducts and worked inside the building.

Eventually, West Easton had to issue a cease and desist order to IQ Fibers, expecting they would then submit plans and obtain permits for the work they were performing to the building.

The C&D has gone unheeded since its issuance on September 18, 2019.

Work at IQ Fibers continued and to make their snub even more apparent, West Easton now has a large blue noise maker erected by IQ Fibers, alongside their building on Lehigh Drive.

No plan submitted. No permit given. Another business that thinks it can do as it pleases in West Easton.

West Easton wants businesses to find a home in our borough, but it expects all businesses to be good neighbors, not just the few who follow the rules.

IQ Fibers isn’t being the good neighbor they promised to be. They are a disappointment to residents of West Easton, and to those residing in Glendon, who have no problem hearing the blast of noise that sounds like a shotgun constantly going off multiple times every minute.

I made a video yesterday. You will hear what many in West Easton and Glendon are hearing.
