The originally planned Phase II project for the Public Works Garage (PWG) will be adjusted down in the amount of work to be done. This is being done in order to meet the reduced amount of money provided by grants.

Phase II was estimated to cost $112,700 with West Easton’s contribution amount to the project being $16,600. The total cost was based on a prior CIPP grant application requesting an award of $50,000.

CIPP’s recently announced award provided West Easton with only $15,000, making the total amount available for Phase II, $77,600.

Rather than add the missing $35,000 from borough coffers, to reach the $112,700 needed, Council voted on Monday evening to readjust the project expenditure down to $77,600.

Phase II will definitely see the installation of a cement floor and utility services connected to the building. If extra money remains it will then be used for whatever else can be accomplished.

The remaining items in the original Phase II plan were inside wiring, a lavatory, insulation, garage door motors, a heater system, an exhaust fan, ice catchers for the roof, and lighting.

Some of those remaining items will not be done, depending on what is determined can be removed from the project.
