Northampton County Executive Lamont McClure presented a ceremonial check to West Easton in the amount of $75,000. The money is a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), applied for earlier this year.
The presentation took place at the November 4, 2019 Council Meeting.
The large (literally) check he brought with him represented the CDBG award that is destined for West Easton road work and repair of degraded curbs in areas near water collection cisterns.
Executive McClure amused those in attendance when he told Council he could not leave the ceremonial check with us. It is made of an eraser board material and is reused for various presentations. He had to take it back with him, should it be needed again in the future.
A Right to Know request, he said, was once submitted to the county asking for the cost of each ceremonial check used for presentations. The requester apparently thought the county had the large checks individually created.
