One of the final requests to Council, made by former Mayor Gerald Gross as he left office, was that replacement of guardrails be made along a tight turn on East St.

Some of the East St. guardrail is made of wood that meets up with standard steel railing.

Much of the wood is rotted. The steel sections have been hit over the years and portions of the steel railing are no longer properly connected to each other. It is the intention of Council to have the wood replaced with steel and address the problems with the existing steel rails.

Council received three quotes that varied in price, but the focus was that the quotes varied in linear feet of replacement, distance between posts that would be placed along the roadway, and other differences such as installing spacer blocks for the rails.

A fourth quote from an Easton based company also hadn’t been received.

Council decided to ask for re-quotes from the companies. The request this time will specify the length of railing, post spacing, and other requirements, in order to have a better comparison of pricing and services rendered.
