25 Percent Turnout In 2017 West Easton Elections

Only 187 of the 753 eligible voters in West Easton made it to the polls yesterday. Our 24.83% was only slightly better than the county-wide turnout of 22.97%.

Weather may have played a part in the low turnout, when compared to past election years in the borough. Rain and cold temperatures ruled much of the day.

It was also an “off-year” election with no major Federal or State offices up for grabs.

The biggest contests that garnered voter interest may have been those of County officials. The County Executive and 5 County Council seats were in contention. The incumbents were decimated in those races.

NorCo Executive John Brown was defeated, as were 4 on his Council. The only incumbent to survive was Councilwoman Peg Ferraro, who finished 5th, retaining her Council seat by only 300 votes. It was one of her worst showings among many successful re-election bids.

John Brown lost West Easton by the narrowest of margins. He obtained 81 West Easton votes, while Lamont McClure received 82.
