A grant for $125,400 to alleviate the storm water problem along 2nd Street in West Easton has been recommended for approval by The County of Northampton’s Community and Economic Development. It also met with approval by Northampton County Council.
This means that only HUD is needed to approve the project. The decision from HUD is expected by October. If approved, agreements for executing funds can begin toward funding the project, which should do much to solve the problem of the torrent of water that develops in Wilson Borough, travels down Iron Street before crossing over onto Second Street, where it then cascades onto the sidewalk and properties on the north side of the street and below.
The project, which is planned to catch and divert water before it gathers depth and strength, should stop the undermining of sidewalks and water in basements of those who reside along the waters path.
