Minutes matter in an emergency. That’s why it’s important to help emergency responders find your home by having numbers clearly visible and near your front door.

Responders look at front doors first to find identifying numbers and not your mailbox, fence post, or a large rock on your front lawn. It is suggested that your numbers be at least 4 inches high, or larger, and if not on your front door, they be in close proximity to it. Numbers should also be in a contrasting color to the background. A white door should use black numbers. A dark door should use white numbers.

According to the police and postal service there are numerous homes that do not have numbers posted at all.
